Fr Elphegus taught philosophy at Belmont 1873-77 and moved to Fort Augustus in 1879 (he was in Prague Abbey 1881-82); formally transferred to FA on separation 1888. He was an energetic defender of Fort Augustus’s position in the financial dispute with the English Benedictine Congregation in 1884 (text quoted in M.Butler, Holme Eden Abbey, 2006, p19 n35)
